The Best in Online Backup
Oct 22nd, 2007 by Nick
IDrive-E is a popular Data backup providers on the internet. They offer encrypted online backups for free up to 2 GB and unlimited storage after that for a small price of $4.95 per month. There are other options out there to store your files, but IDrive is fast, secure, and very easy to use.
Compared to other companies like Mozy and Carbonite, IDrive has some very nice features that the leaders in its industry do not have. IDrive online backup refreshes at a frequency of every 10 minutes. Mozy takes 2 hours and poor Carbonite only refreshes every 24 hours. Another feature that IDrive has that its competitors cannot claim, is that IDrive does not delete the data on the server side unless the user requests it, or the account is inactive. However, for Mozy and Carbonite, they delete theirs every 30 days.
Their website is very easy to navigate and provides several demos on how to use IDrive. There is also a large FAQ section to answer any questions that may arise. Even if you have little experience with computers they make it easy for you to be able to use IDrive.
As you can see, when it comes to backing up your files securely, quickly, and with little hassle, IDrive-E is a great option for online storage.
Nick: I’m Carbonite’s CEO. From the industry surveys that we’ve seen, in the consumer backup space Carbonite has more paying customers and revenue than anyone else, followed by Mozy. We currently have about 2.5 petabytes of storage for PAYING customers, we’ve backed up about 1.6 billion files. We back up 24 million new ones every day. And we’ve restored 160 million files for users. I’m sure iDrive is a good product, and I’m in favor of any online backup service over CDs or external drives. But I would doubt your claim that they are the industry leader.
