WTF!?!

So, I was deep in a binge of gaming online when all of a sudden this horrible screech enters my ear. I think, someone must be preheating the over. Several seconds later I think, shit, is that the fire alarm? Then it enters my room, yep, thats the fire alarm. So, I get up, had to shut down the game >:( and walk to my roommates room. He is looking around wondering if it is the fire alarm too. We walk out to the hallway and notice our room is the only one with the siren on. This is strange since the fire alarms are connected and you would think that if one goes off it trips them all to alert people to evacuate the building. So, my roommate and I walk to the front desk and tell the RA on duty, she finds it odd that only ours is going off to, after she alerts the campus security we head back to our dorm, by this time we can hear sirens coming. We talk to the fireman real quick and explain what caused the alarm and apologize. Apparently, from my roommate and my understanding, his electric tea kettle set off the alarm. That is the only logical reason we can derive. Even though there was nothing in it but water and the kettle itself was about 10 feet away from the smoke detector, apparently it set it off. Oh well, I needed a break from my computer anyway.
