Going in to tonights flag football game the team had 1 win 2 losses and a tie. But somehow we were the number 1 seed in the “B” playoffs. The weather was chilly compared to the other days. It was about 55 degrees, there was no wind, which was good because it would have been a lot worse. On paper, we should have lost the game. The other team had 4 guys and 4 girls on the field which is what you are supposed to have. We had 4 guys and 2 girls. One of the guys was hurt, and halfway through the game one of the girls hurt her knee. But somehow we were able to shut them down on D and run away from them on offense. We were able to get 4 interceptions from them and we only gave up 1 I think. Our girls were able to catch some big passes to give us first downs and change the play from closed (a girl has to be involved) to open (anything goes).
There was however one bogus play. I was playing close on D since we were down a few players and the guy got past me. When I went to grab his flag I grabbed his shirt as well and apparently I was “holding” him. This sucked because 1 I got beat and 2 they were now about 10 yards out with a fresh set of downs. So they get about 3 yards out, 3rd down, open play, they throw it into the endzone and luckily, I was there to catch it for the interception. From that point on it was lights out us. We scored about 3 touchdowns after that and won in a shutout. Cant wait for next monday.
