New Dorm, New Shower
Oct 24th, 2007 by Nick
Last year when I was in the dorm, my shower was horrible. It took 10 minutes to heat up and the water basically sputtered out, there was hardly any pressure at all. This year, in a new dorm my shower is much better. The water heats up instantly, and there is ample pressure from the nozzle. I attribute some of the change to the faucet itself. If I wasnt so cheap last year, I probably would have looked into shower faucets and got a new one. Faucet.com probably would have been the best place to start. It has a huge selection of name brands to choose from. Kohler, Moen, Delta, Amercian Standard, and many more. They are listed at great prices and not only are there plenty of brands to choose from, but there are plenty of styles and finishes to choose as well. They also educate you on the difference between them. It isnt like buying a lightbulb where you just walk to the store, grab it and plug it in. The three major categories and differences for the faucets are:
- Handle (Usually matches the handles in the rest of the bathroom.)
- Showerhead (These may have different functions for passing the water, such as stream, jet, pulse.)
- Regular Faucet or Pressure Balanced or Thermostatic (These regulate pressure and temperature of water.)
Once you find where you stand on those three categories, choosing the best faucet for you is easy. If you are in the market to remodel your bathroom, or maybe just want an upgrade, check them out.
